What is Bollywood By Hemanth Srinivas What is Bollywood ? - It is suffice to say that the word "Bollywood" is equivalent to Hollywood in India. Obviously the term is inspired from Hollywood. Many people outside India, applies the term to all the movies made in India. But it is not quite right to call all movies made in India as Bollywood movies. The term Bollywood is applied to only Hindi language movies. There are other tons of movies made in India in other regional languages (Like Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Malayalam etc.) These regional movie industries have their own interesting names, again inspired from Hollywood! Here is the list of movie industry names for South Indian States. Kannada Movie Industry (Karnataka State) - Sandlewood Tamil Movie Industry (Tamil Nadu) - Kollywood Telugu Movie Industry (Andra Pradesh) - Tollywood Malayalam Movie Industry (Kerala) - Mollywood
